Feldenkrais Method & Contact Improvisation with Simonetta Alessandri

In Simonetta’s workshop the Feldenkrais Method will be a base from which we move into dance. We will use simple, exploratory movements (Awareness Through Movement Class) to free ourselves from unhelpful patterns and discover new functional alternatives. Gradually we will expand our movement into space, touch and shared weight. We will arrive in a physical communication with other bodies, exploring gravity and momentum and enjoying the playfulness and surprises of Contact Improvisation.

Simonetta Alessandri is a dancer, choreographer and teacher. She is a qualified Feldenkrais® Method practitioner and obtained the Teaching Certificate at R.A.D® and the Post Graduate Diploma in Choreography at the London Contemporary Dance School.

In the UK she has been teaching at the Laban Center, The Place, Goldsmiths University and Independent Dance amongst others.

Simonetta taught Contact Improvisation for over 20 years and she is the founder of Romacontact, and organization that supported the development of Contact Improvisation in Italy.

She has worked collaboratively with several dance and theatre companies in Italy, UK, Turkey, Germany, Norway, Israel, Taiwan, France, Colombia and Japan and is currently a member of S.o.F.T., a UK based collective researching and creating improvised performances.
